Sabari Malas Dolly
The Sabarimala Dolly, also known as Pallakku, is a traditional service that enables devotees to reach the hilltop shrine of Lord Ayyappa with ease. Introduced decades ago, it was designed to assist elderly, physically challenged, and unwell pilgrims who find the steep forest trek from Pamba to Sannidhanam difficult. Skilled local workers carry devotees using a secure seat tied to sturdy bamboo poles, ensuring a safe journey through the rugged terrain.
Over time, the dolly service has become an essential part of the Sabarimala pilgrimage, especially during peak seasons like Mandala and Makaravilakku. Managed under guidelines set by temple authorities, it provides a reliable and organized facility. Beyond convenience, the service reflects the inclusive spirit of devotion, ensuring that every pilgrim, regardless of physical ability, can experience the sacred darshan of Lord Ayyappa.
